With Christmas closing in, Randall Peltzer (Hoyt Axton) is struggling to find the perfect present for his son Billy (Zach Galligan). Turning to the lesser explored Chinatown area, though, he stumbles into an antiques shop and happens upon a small, furry creature – a mogwai.

Intrigued by the fascinating animal, Randall strikes a deal with the shop owner’s grandson (John Louie) to buy it. Before he leaves, he is warned of three rules to carefully remember: never expose the mogwai to bright light, don’t get him wet and don’t, under any circumstances, feed him after midnight. Simple enough, Randall thinks.

Presented with his peculiar new pet, who he names Gizmo (Howie Mandel), Billy accidentally breaks one of the key rules when his friend, Pete (Corey Feldman), spills a glass of water. Splashing over Gizmo, the water spawns five new mogwai, with the conniving Stripe (Frank Welker) as the pack leader.

Scheming and troublesome, Stripe manages to trick Billy into feeding the creatures after midnight, sparking a chaotic and disastrous string of events. Watered and fed, mogwai become murderous reptilian monsters – gremlins.

As gremlins run riot over town, Billy must figure out a way to stop them before it’s too late.

Joined by executive producer Steven Spielberg (E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial), Gremlins is written by Chris Columbus (The Goonies) and directed by Joe Dante (Small Soldiers). This 1984 cult Christmas comedy-horror stars Phoebe Cates (Drop Dead Fred), Zach Galligan (Nightbeasts) and Hoyt Axton (We’re No Angels).
