Full film details

Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) is in a happy long-term relationship with her boyfriend, Nick (Henry Golding). The pair are a relatively successful young couple, with great careers and a loving relationship. The only thing is, Henry never really talks about his parents, which leaves Rachel to assume they haven’t played an important part in his life.

Nick’s best friend is getting married in Singapore. It’s the perfect opportunity for Rachel and Nick to take a break together, and so Nick invites Rachel along. But when the pair board on a first-class flight, Nick’s carefully covered past starts to reveal itself, as Rachel discovers his parents are rich… Crazy rich.

After the shock of discovering Nick comes from unbelievable wealth, Rachel is nervous but prepared to meet Nick’s mother, Eleanor (Michelle Yeoh). Unfortunately, Eleanor isn’t quite so excited to meet Rachel, and believes that she’s not good enough for her son. Rachel also discovers that Nick is considered to be a very eligible bachelor in Singapore, which turns Rachel’s view on their relationship upside down.

Eventually, Nick has to make a choice: his family, or his girlfriend. But can he possibly choose between the two, and in turn, stand up to his overbearing mother?

Crazy Rich Asians is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Kevin Kwan, and stars Constance Wu (Parallels) and Henry Golding (A Simple Favour), alongside Michelle Yeoh (Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2).
