Full film details

For Bailey (Josh Gad), there has always been one big question – what is the meaning of life?

We all wrestle with this question at some point, and so it’s not too unusual… Except for the fact that Bailey is a dog. And, even stranger – every time he takes his very last breath and says goodbye to one owner, he is reborn as a new dog into a completely different life.

Who says only cats get nine lives?

From being the faithful companion that guides Ethan (K.K. Apa) into manhood as Bailey, and onto a new life as a crime-fighting female police dog – each chapter in this unusual existence offers a new lesson.

But how does it all add up? And, why does food always taste so much better in the trash?

A Dog’s Purpose is a tail-wagging treat of a film, and offers an interesting new angle on the canine buddy drama genre.

Directed by Lasse Hallström (Chocolat, The Cider House Rules), the picture stars K.J. Apa (The Cul De Sac) Dennis Quaid (The Day After Tomorrow) and Britt Robertson (The Space Between Us).

Josh Gad was the voice of Olaf in Frozen (2013), and here provides his dulcet tones for Bailey the dog and his many alter-egos.
