Gloria thought her life couldn’t get messier. Until she finds out she’s linked to a monster destroying South Korea.
When Gloria (Ann Hathaway) loses her job, her boyfriend and her life in New York City, she thinks she’s hit rock bottom.
Until she discovers her every movement is connected to that of a giant monster who is attempting to destroy Seoul.
And that’s when she hits rock bottom.
After too much partying and not enough growing up, Gloria’s boyfriend Tim (Dan Stevens) kicks her out of their apartment, leaving her no choice but to move back to her hometown to try and recoup. As she struggles with her personal emotional monsters, the world is trying to get to grips with a Godzilla-like creature who is wreaking havoc upon South Korea.
While watching live coverage of the catastrophe, Gloria notices that when she lifts her arm, the monster lifts its arm. When she places a hand on her forehead, so does the monster. When she dances like an idiot in the street, the monster does too.
With the help of her friend Oscar (Jason Sudeikis) Gloria must figure out how to move through the world without destroying the citizens of East Asia – and without torching the relationships in her own life.
This offbeat comedy is directed by Nacho Vigalondo (Open Windows) and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Ann Hathaway (The Intern) stars as Gloria, the fascinating mess, and Jason Sudeikis (Horrible Bosses) plays Oscar, her laid-back friend.
