Full film details

Jason (Emmet Kirwan) spends his life surrounded by flashing lights, pulsing music, and hard drugs. An aspiring DJ, it’s all about living one night to the next, getting high, and hoping it all eventually leads to something more.

His routine is shaken when he bumps into his brother, Daniel (Ian Lloyd Anderson). Living on the streets, all of Daniel’s potential and intelligence has been wasted away on his heroin addiction, and he’s now a hollow shell with a dirty backpack and haunted expression.

It’s been years since they spent time together, but over the course of one weekend the two brothers try to find each other again, uncovering a forgotten web of shared music and difficult memories.

Both broken in different ways, they are forced to face the flaws that they see in each other and try to find a way to move forward, despite their painful history.

Based on hit stage play of the same name, Emmet Kirwan wrote and stars in Dublin Oldschool, which has been described as “Trainspotting meets Adam and Paul.” Both gritty and funny, raw and whimsical, it promises to deliver drama, comedy, and poetry in equal measures.

Directed by David Tynan (Heartbreak) with a standout Irish cast, including Ian Lloyd Anderson (Love/Hate), Sarah Greene (Penny Dreadful), Ciaran Grace (Black 47), and Stephen Jones (Nowhere Fast).
