Full film details

Laurie Anderson first made a name for herself in the late 1960s as a performance artist, and has since gone on to build a unique and fascinating body of work, including her avant-garde assault on the UK pop charts with the 1981 No.2 single “O Superman”.

This dreamy documentary film sees Anderson reflect on the passing of her beloved piano-playing and finger-painting dog, Lolabelle, through a series of key scenes in the animal’s life, as well some very imaginative dream sequences.

The artist also references her late mother, as well as husband Lou Reed, who passed away in 2013.

Heart of a Dog has been heaped with praise from critics, who have dubbed the picture as ‘’spellbinding’’ and ‘’wildly inventive.’’

The film has been shortlisted for a 2016 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature Film.
