Full film details

One-time youth boxing champion, Jimmy McCabe (Johnny Harris), is down and out, having turned to the bottle for comfort. At the very depths of despair, he figures his only hope of redemption lies in the boxing club where he struck gold so many moons ago.

Now reunited with gym owner Bill (Ray Winstone), boxing coach Eddie (Michael Smiley) and promoter Joe (Ian McShane), Jimmy builds up his strength enough to be considered a worthy opponent for hotshot fighter, Damian (Luke J.I. Smith).

But, while flashes of his former brilliance are apparent, the one battle Jimmy can’t seem to conquer is the one with himself. With his boxing family swiftly losing patience and fight night fast approaching, the jury’s out as to whether Jimmy can still cut it in the ring.

Actor Johnny Harris has been making movies since 2000, but broke through in 2006 with a scene-stealing performance in the award-winning and BAFTA nominated London to Brighton, which ended up in Time Out Magazine’s ‘100 Best British Films of All Time’, despite its micro-budget.

Jawbone marks his debut as a screenwriter, as well as starring in the lead role of the troubled Jimmy. Strong support comes from Ray Winstone (The Departed), Ian McShane (John Wick: Chapter 2) and Michael Smiley (Rogue One).

The movie is backed with a soundtrack written and performed by the Modfather himself, Paul Weller.
