Full film details

14-year-old Eli (Myles Truitt) has one rule to follow – try to stay out of trouble. For the most part, he’s pretty successful. But when his adoptive older brother Jimmy (Jack Reynor) gets out of jail, everything changes.

It’s clear that the boys’ father, Hal (Dennis Quaid), isn’t keen to have Jimmy around. And it soon becomes clear why. He may have served his time, but he hasn’t quite left his criminal past behind…

Jimmy owes money – a lot of money – to a local gang, headed up by the ruthless and unhinged Taylor (James Franco). And they’re ready to get paid.

It’s not long before things take an ugly turn. But what Taylor and his gang haven’t accounted for is Eli, who has broken his one rule and plunged headlong into trouble.

The gang has Jimmy cornered and are just about ready to finish him off when Eli emerges with a strange weapon he found in an abandoned building. On a whim he fires it – and sends everyone fleeing in fear. It soon becomes clear that the mysterious weapon holds much more significance than anyone could begin to imagine.

Jimmy convinces Eli to flee with him, and they befriend Milly (Zoë Kravitz) along the way. As the three of them navigate the dangers ahead, the brothers rediscover a bond that was almost shattered when Jimmy was sent to prison – and could be destroyed again, if Eli discovers the secrets Jimmy is hiding from him…

Written and directed by Jonathon and Josh Baker, the team behind Stranger Things, Kin stars Myles Truitt (Superstition), Jack Reynor (Detroit), Zoë Kravitz (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), and James Franco (Blood Ride).
