Full film details

Set in the early 20th century, young Pole Faustina Kowalska (Kamila Kaminska) experiences the omnipotence of God at a very early age and feels her life is destined to be spent within a convent serving the Lord.

Guided by Jesus Christ in her late teens, she leaves her family in search of holiness in Warsaw, where she joins a group of nuns. When Faustina explains that she was led to them by God, the nuns show great interest and welcome her to their home.

Spending time in the holy setting, Faustina’s faith grows stronger and she begins to see great visions of Christ. Following intrigue, her confessor (Maciej Malysa) within the church insists Faustina documents the messages she receives from the Lord within a diary. As each instance noted down becomes a reality, her mystic work spreads far and wide.

Today, over 80 years since the Pole’s passing, she is still revered within the Catholic church. Considered an Apostle of Divine Mercy, she was canonised in 2000. Saint Faustina’s sacred diary entries, and particularly her powerfully drawings of God’s image, have always inspired disciples of the church, but no more so than now as further evidence of her relationship with Christ comes to light.

Dramatisation of the life of Saint Faustina is combined with expert testimony in this revelatory docudrama that explores how Divine Mercy spread within the Catholic church, and how it was reborn this century through Pope John Paul II. Love and Mercy: Faustina stars Kamila Kaminska (The Fastest), Maciej Malysa (The Red Spider) and Janusz Chabior (Mafia Women).
