Full film details

Lucky (Harry Dean Stanton) is a veteran living in a tiny town in the US. Having reached 90-years of age, Lucky follows the same routine day in, day out. Spending much of his time walking around the town, he smokes to excess and has outlived most of his contemporaries.

Despite his age, Lucky has never had very much time for philosophising. He’s chosen to live is life in an endless loop, and always believes there’s enough time to make changes if the need arises. That’s until he collapses in his home and has to be rushed to hospital.

The collapse forces Lucky to confront his own mortality. Despite his age and lifestyle choices, the doctor reveals that Lucky is in reasonably good health – but that no matter how healthy a person is, age will eventually catch up to them.

Lucky takes his opportunity to process some of the life events that have lead him to his repetitive life in old age, and to speak to those who gather around him in the small town.

Lucky was one of the final films of Harry Dean Stanton, who made his mark on cinematic history featuring in classics such as Alien and The Green Mile. His long-time collaborating David Lynch (Twin Peaks) also features alongside Ron Livingston (The Conjuring).

Highly acclaimed character actor John Carroll Lynch takes his directorial debut, in a film that is a much watch for Harry Dean Stanton fans and lovers of the human story alike.
