Full film details

Molly and her mama and papa are a happy family who live in Monsterland. But change is on the horizon. Molly is going to be a big sister!

When mama lays an egg, Molly couldn’t be more excited. She’s been working very hard to knit a hat for the new monster baby, and she can’t wait to meet her new sibling. Until she learns that mama and papa are taking the egg to hatch on Egg Island – and she’s not going with them.

Instead, Molly must go stay with her uncle. At first, she’s very sad to watch her parents leave. But soon she becomes captivated by the new places and faces at her uncle’s house.

However, Molly suddenly realises that her parents have forgotten something of vital importance – the hat she made for her new baby sibling!

She has no option but to take matters into her own hands. With only the help of her best friend Edison, a clockwork toy, and her own steely resolve, she adventures across the Wild Hills on a quest to find her parents and deliver the hat before the egg hatches.

This charming animated film is a team effort from Swiss, German and Swedish directors Matthias Bruhn, Michael Ekbladh and Ted Sieger. It has received critical praise from across the globe and won The Best European Children’s Film 2016 at the Buff International Film Festival, making it a funny and touching family movie that explores the theme of how children adapt to a growing household.
