Full film details

Vee (Emma Roberts) is just your average teenager: she goes to school, hangs out with her friends and enjoys draining her free time away in front of her computer.

When the latest internet trend takes over everyone’s newsfeeds, Vee is a little sceptical. In an interactive, online game of truth or dare, the players film themselves doing crazy stunts and the watchers fuel the frenzy, setting challenges for those who dare to take part.

The prize? Popularity. And money.

At first, Vee is content to sit behind the screen. But when her friends provoke her to break free from her boring routine and join the game, she turns into a player.

The watchers dare Vee to kiss a stranger, and she embraces her spontaneous side and goes for it.

That’s when the game changes.

The stranger turns out to be fellow player, Ian (Dave Franco). As their kiss goes viral, the watchers decide they like the look of the pair and challenge them to team up in a series of ventures that take them all over the city.

At first, the tasks are harmless, and Vee enjoys her newfound sense of freedom. But suddenly things take a strange turn, and the couple realise they are under the control of the watchers.

So, what do you do when the game turns into a trap?

Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, the duo behind Catfish (2010) and Paranormal Activity 3 and 4 (2011, 2012), team up to direct this thriller, which stars Roberts (American Horror Story) alongside Franco (Bad Neighbours) as the couple who must find their way out of the maze of manipulation.
