Full film details

Based on the novel of the same name by John le Carré, Our Kind of Traitor follows the life of Oxford academic, Perry (Ewan McGregor), and his lawyer girlfriend, Gail (Naomie Harris).

Whilst holidaying in Marrakech, the couple are invited to a join the party of a flamboyant Russian oligarch who goes by the name of ‘Dima’ and is seeking to defect to the UK.

Following a seemingly innocent game of tennis, it becomes clear that Dima has an ulterior motive for reaching out to Perry – having hoped that he is a spy or at the very least, able to make contact with one.

Dima gives Perry information about his criminal activities to pass to British intelligence in exchange for protection, and on their return to the UK, they reach out to British intelligence with the information, hoping to wash their hands of the situation.

But things just aren’t that simple.

Trapped in a difficult position between the Russian Mafia and the British Secret Service, the couple quickly find that they are entrenched in a serious case of international espionage.

Susanna White (Boardwalk Empire) directs this taut thriller, which stars Ewan McGregor (Jane Got a Gun) and Naomie Harris (SPECTRE).

The film also co-stars Damian Lewis (Homeland) as the determined M16 agent sent to crack the case.
