Full film details

Paterson (Adam Driver) drives a bus in Paterson, New Jersey. Every day he watches the world go by, and writes beautiful poetry about what he’s observed. When he returns home, he takes his dog for a walk, has exactly one beer at the local bar, and turns in to sleep.

Laura (Golshifteh Farahani) is Paterson’s wife. She makes things happen. Every day, she creates something new and exciting, and views the world as if through a kaleidoscope.

Paterson and Laura are deeply in love. Laura adores Paterson’s poetry and encourages him to publish his work, which showcases an extraordinary talent hidden behind his ordinary veneer. He contemplates it, but never seems to get around to sending out a manuscript.

As day after day goes the same, the couple are subjected to a tiny tragedy, which threatens to pull them apart.

Paterson, written and directed by Jim Jarmusch (Only Lovers Left Alive, Broken Flowers), is a beautifully understated film that highlights the beauty in everyday life.

Adam Driver (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Inside Llewyn Davis) stars as Paterson, while Golshifteh Farahani (Exodus: Gods and Kings) co-stars as Laura, in performances that have already dazzled critics at the Palme D’Or. This artistic exploration of beauty in subtlety is set to become an instant cult classic.
