Full film details

In Paris in 1893, scientists Marie (Rosamund Pike) and Pierre (Sam Riley) meet and fall in love. But as well as forming what will become a successful marriage, these two brilliant minds are set to make discoveries that will change the world.

Coming up against much resistance, Marie is determined to prove that her discoveries are vital for science and should be taken seriously. All the while, she and Pierre go on working together in science, marriage and raising a family.

But what she’s not prepared for is the tragedy that will befall her family and the wicked uses that people will go on to use her discoveries for.

Oscar nominee Marjane Satrapi (The Voices, Persepolis) directs this thrilling biopic, based on Lauren Redniss’s graphic novel of the same name, about the first female winner of the Nobel Prize, Marie Curie. Oscar nominee Rosamund Pike (A Private War, Gone Girl), Sam Riley (Sometimes Always Never, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) and Anya Taylor-Joy (Playmobil: The Movie, Glass) take on the roles of Marie, Pierre and Irene Curie.
