Full film details

Sometimes, unexpected people can send our lives in completely unpredictable directions.

When two men who stem from very different backgrounds develop an unlikely friendship, neither of them realises they are exactly what the other needs in order to ignite the necessary changes in their circumstances.

Successful businessman, Ron Hall (Greg Kinnear) is a suave international art dealer who is fighting through a difficult marriage crisis with his wife, Debbie (Renée Zellweger). When Ron meets Denver, a struggling homeless man (Dijmon Hounsou), he initially sees the former slave as someone who comes from an entirely distant and unfamiliar world.

However, as new revelations about Debbie come to light, the three seemingly separate people develop a relationship that will forever change the way they live their lives.

Adapted from the 2006 nonfiction best-seller, Same Kind Of Different As Me: A Modern-Day Slave, An International Art Dealer, And The Unlikely Woman Who Bound Them Together; Michael Carney will make his directorial debut from a screenplay he co-wrote with Alexander Foard and Ron Hall.

The A-list cast features big screen names Renée Zellweger (Bridget Jones’s Diary) as Debbie, Djimon Hounsou (Amistad) as Denver, Greg Kinnear (Little Men) as Ron, Olivia Holt (Evermoor) as Regan – the daughter of Ron and Debbie, and Jon Voight (Mission: Impossible) who plays Hall's father.
