Full film details

Brenda Jackson’s (Karen Simpson) childhood was brilliant. She had a natural talent for singing from an early age, but distractions and working jobs to make ends meet eventually began to get in the way, and she was forced to shelve her true ambitions.

Now older, she meets a man with connections in the music biz by the name of Steve Reeds (Martin Lindquist). He promises her the world – all the music deals and meetings with producers she could have dreamed of.

And not only does he have the connections, but he also runs a foundation for abused women. It seems like Brenda has found her Mr Right.

The two fall in love and quickly marry, but the relationship soon begins to sour, when Steve starts showing signs of being an abusive husband, despite the nature of his work.

Steve’s abuse towards Brenda intensifies, and he even goes as far as forbidding her to sing around the house.

In a sudden turn of events, he encourages Brenda to sing at a fundraiser for his foundation. Due to the abuse, Brenda is weakened, but manages to charm the audience with her angelic voice.

Will Brenda manage to escape her husband turned captor, or will she continue to be oppressed, with her music career forever evading her?

Newcomer Karen Simpson plays the lead role of Brenda, while Martin Lindquist (Suits) stars opposite as abusive husband, Steve Reeds.
