Mungo’s ultimate goal is to be a footballer. However, his family has other ideas for the young mole: joining his father working in the local gold mine. But when the mine is mysteriously put out of action, Mungo has an opportunity to make his dream come true. Featuring the voice work of Lizzie Waterworth, Ken Stott, and Tom Turner, this humorous and heart-warming family stop-motion animation is showing exclusively at Vue.
Life is straightforward in Diggington and so are the career paths. Young Mungo (Lizzie Waterworth) is due to become another in a long line of family miners, working down the town’s famous gold mine. Except Mungo doesn’t want to go underground, he wants to reach for the sky and become a footballer.
However, his father, Gareth (Tom Turner), is a proud miner and doesn’t want to hear a word of it. So Mungo looks set to fall in line and join his family and friends down the mine. That is until a suspicious accident forces the gold mine to close, handing Mungo an opportunity to try his luck at doing what he wants most.
At the same time, a dastardly gold-obsessed figure called The Boss (Ken Stott) steps in and offers (well, bullies) the people of Diggington into considering selling their suddenly non-operational mine to him.
What will happen to the mine? Will Mungo realise his dream and become a football player? Him and his friends are about to find out – and go on the adventure of a lifetime while doing it.
Lizzie Waterworth (Horrid Henry, The Backyardigans), Ken Stott (The Mercy, The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies), and Tom Turner (Ready Player One, Beauty and the Beast) lend their voices to this hilarious stop-motion animation that’s fun for the whole family. Showing only at Vue.
