Full film details

Carol Peters (Melissa McCarthy) doesn’t have an extraordinary life by any means. In fact, it’s quite uninteresting, but for her constant struggle to romantically reconcile with her ex-boyfriend (Bobby Cannavale). So, when she starts receiving startling backtalk from her home electrical devices, she immediately thinks someone’s messing with her. That or she’s losing her mind.

Unbeknownst to Carol, she’s been chosen as the sole interest point for the world’s first superintelligence (James Corden). As she ambles through life, the artificial intelligence is observing her, studying the human condition.

Discovering the fragility of emotion, the superintelligence grows increasingly more independent. Considering human life beneath him, and a weakness in his way towards total control, he decides the species has had its time.

However, as the entity prepares to strike and take the planet for his own, Carol, his ‘unremarkable’ source of inspiration, might be the only person left who can save humanity.

Ben Falcone (Life of the Party, Tammy) directs and co-produces this action-comedy while Academy Award nominee Melissa McCarthy (The Kitchen, The Happytime Murders, Bridesmaids) stars alongside BAFTA winner James Corden (Gavin and Stacey, Peter Rabbit, One Chance) and Bobby Cannavale (The Irishman, Motherless Brooklyn, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle).
