Full film details

Ever noticed how the phone always rings as soon as you get into the bath? That your queue is the one the moves the slowest? That isn’t mere coincidence. That’s God. Sitting at his out-dated computer, tapping out laws designed to toy with the human race.

Because, as it turns out, God (Benoît Poelvoorde) is real. He’s alive and living in Brussels, in an apartment he shares with his wife Martine (Catherine Deneuve) and 10-year-old daughter, Ea (Pili Groyne).

But forget the long white beard, flowing ethereal robes and do-gooder attitude. It seems that God has become something of a sadist, and enjoys nothing more than watching the inhabitants of earth suffer greatly – often as a result of destructive situations he has set up himself.

Meanwhile, his daughter, Ea, is growing increasingly frustrated with her overbearing father. She doesn’t agree with his destructive attitude and decides to take matters into her own hands.

Just like her brother before her, she leaves the house – via a magical portal in the washing machine – and heads out into the world. Before long, she’s recruiting disciples and writing her own, brand new testament.

This black comedy fantasy is written and directed by Jaco Van Dormael – the mastermind behind 2009’s award winning Mr. Nobody.

The film stars legendary actress Catherine Deneuve (Belle de Jour), newcomer Pili Groyne (Two Days, One Night) and Benoît Poelvoorde (Coco Before Chanel).
