Full film details

Fang Mu is a fantastic detective, with an eager eye for catching details few others can see. When Mi Nan, a forensics specialist, finds herself at a shocking loss while investigating the case of a murdered school teacher, there’s no doubt in her mind that Fang can catch the killer.

Even Fang is at a loss to understand the killer’s motivation, with the school teacher having lead a seemingly innocent lifestyle. It’s not until a second murder is committed that Fang starts to draw a connection between the two, discovering a shocking motivation few could’ve imagined.

To catch a killer, you must think like a killer, and Fang uses his suspicions in an attempt to stop another heinous death, and bring the murderer to justice. Can Fang use his wits, experience and passion for real justice to bring down the killer, or has he met his match this time?

The Liquidator is based on the hugely successful Evil Minds: City Light by Mi Lei, in a screenplay adapted by Xu Jizhou (Yong Bu Mo Mie De Fan Hao), who also directs here in his big screen debut.

Mysterious, thrilling, and at times, downright scary, The Liquidator’s leading man, Deng Chao (The Mermaid, Assembly) is a superstar in China, and has been widely praised for his outstanding performance here. Opposite is TV favourite Cecilia Lui (Lost Love in Times, Five Minutes to Tomorrow), who brings in an excellent performance as a forensics specialists.

With influences from popular crime and noir films, creating a moody and devilish atmosphere throughout, The Liquidator is a must for Chinese-thriller fans, and those looking for a film with teeth, too.
