Full film details

Like a million and one girls that went before her, Jesse (Elle Fanning) is drawn towards the cut-throat world of the LA modelling scene, where she hopes to carve out a name for herself.

When a talent scout (Christine Hendricks) tells her she has what it takes to go the distance, things quickly gather momentum for Jesse and she’s soon taking part in high-end assignments and hanging out with other aspiring models.

But all is not as it seems. Her so-called friends appear to be harbouring far more than just the usual case of ‘green-eyed monster’ syndrome and things begin to get more than a little strange.

Can Jesse act fast enough to get to the bottom of the dark secret that poses a threat to her life?

Set to make its debut at the 69th Cannes Film Festival in May, The Neon Demon is the latest picture from visionary Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn, whose collaborations with Ryan Gosling have earned him a cult following.

Much like Drive (2011) and Only God Forgives (2013), the film is dripping with as much style as it is substance, and is backed with an electrifying synth-pop score befitting of its dreamy visuals.

Having appeared in films such as Maleficent (2014), Super 8 (2011) and Trumbo (2015), The Neon Demon sees Elle Fanning step outside her comfort zone in a gritty leading role.

The picture also stars Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road), Christine Hendricks (Mad Men) and Keanu Reeves (John Wick).
