Full film details

The year is 1639, and the priests, Sebastiäo Rodrigues (Andrew Garfield) and Francisco Garrpe (Adam Driver), are convinced their beloved mentor Cristóväo Ferreira (Liam Neeson) would never have denounced his faith.

Despite desperate warnings, the two travel to Japan, to spread the word of their religion, and to locate their former adviser. Despite enthusiastic greetings from the hidden Christians they meet, the two quickly realise reports of torture and brutal murder of Christians in the country are not exaggerated.

The latest film from Academy Award winning director Martin Scorsese (The Wolf of Wall Street, Shutter Island), Silence is an awe-inspiring, shocking, and occasionally brutal film, adapted from the critically acclaimed 1966 novel of the same name by Shūsaku Endō.

Starring Andrew Garfield (The Amazing Spider-Man, The Social Network) and Adam Driver (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Inside Lleywn Davis), alongside Liam Neeson (A Monster Calls) and Ciarán Hinds (Game of Thrones), Silence has already been called one of Scorsese’s very best… simply unmissable.
