Very strong language, strong nudity
An American comedy-drama documenting the life of a rebellious high school senior and her rocky relationship with her mother.
Self-proclaimed “Lady Bird”, Christine McPherson (Saoirse Ronan) is a stroppy high school senior who longs for opportunities and new beginnings, none of which she can find in her Catholic high school in Sacramento, California.
Being a teenager is a very big deal in Lady Bird’s eyes. Outspoken and strong-willed, the 17-year-old is drifting through her final year of high school with unrealistic intentions of where she’ll land a place at college.
With a reputation for being on the “wrong side of the tracks,” her rebellious ways are causing major clashes with her mum, a nurse who works tirelessly to look after the family after Lady Bird’s dad loses his job.
This indie comedy-drama depicts pivotal phases in a teenager’s life, documenting Lady Bird’s first romance, school play and most importantly, her application to college.
Famed actress, Greta Gerwig, makes her directorial debut with this semi-autobiographical release, making it highly relatable and authentic. The films hosts some familiar faces including Saoirse Ronan (The Lovely Bones), Odeya Rush (The Hunter’s Prayer) and Timothée Chalamet (Call Me By Your Name).
