Films to get excited about in 2024

You might want to clear your calendar because another eventful year on the big screen awaits

Choosing what to watch on the big screen in 2024 can be a pretty daunting task. We mean, have you seen what’s coming out? Even we’re struggling to keep track of the sheer amount of bangers coming our way. So that’s why we put together this helpful little round-up, if you still can't keep up then you can easily set a reminder for the films and events you can't wait to see and we'll let you know when tickets go on sale.

From must-see blockbusters to family-friendly flicks even your dad will like, here’s just a taste of what’s coming to Vue in the new year.

Blockbusters, blockbusters and more blockbusters

It goes without saying really, but yeah, 2024 is going to be another massive year for massive movies on massive screens. Massive, we tell you!

Take a deep breath…There’s Henry Cavill’s new spy thriller Argylle, Dune: Part II, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Deadpool 3, Mufasa: The Lion King annnnnd Wicked: Part One just to name a few! Honestly, if we mentioned everything we’d be here all day.

Family-sized fun

You can pretend all these animations and whimsical family adventures are for the kids, but we know you’ll love them just as much. Kung Fu Panda 4? Yes, please. Inside Out 2? All over it. Despicable Me 4? It has to be done. Moana 2, obviously, Paddington In Peru? Well, obviously. You’ve also got IF, an original story in which Ryan Reynolds confronts a bunch of imaginary monsters, one of which sounds exactly like Steve Carell…

So yeah, when it comes to keeping the little ones occupied or finding some much-needed downtime for yourself, you won’t be short of options. And don’t forget, there’s always our Mini Morning screenings should you require some AM assistance.

Something a little more… serious?

It’s not all action and martial arts Pandas. No, there are plenty of hard-hitting, award-worthy dramas coming your way, like The Bikeriders (starring Austin Butler and Jodie Comer), Joker: Folie à Deux (yes, that’s the sequel with Lady Gaga), Back to Black (the Amy Winehouse biopic) and Challengers, in which Zendaya finds herself in the middle of a tennis love triangle. Ooh la la!

But you’ll still have reasons to laugh

Beetlejuice 2, anyone? 26 years after the original film, Michael Keaton will finally be returning as the shapeshifting demon in Tim Burton’s long-awaited sequel, along with Winona Ryder and Jenna Ortega. This one’s bound to tickle the funny bones of fans old and new.

Elsewhere, we’ve got a musical re-imagining of Mean Girls for all you plastics and losers out there, and also The Fall Guy, the action-comedy starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt. And yes, we’re also counting Deadpool 3 and basically all of the upcoming animations as comedies, too.

And anything else that can be shown on a big screen

Live concert performances. Live sporting events. Live theatre. Who said the big screen was meant solely for films? We thoroughly enjoy immersing you in arena-type environments and intimate little venues, so guess what; we’re going to carry on doing it. Keep an eye on our website and shiny new app for all the events and performances coming your way.
