With his newest film, Tenet, coming soon, we’re re-showing a crop of his biggest and best classics on the big screen, so whether you’re an existing fan or a future one, note these down. You won’t want to miss them.
Inception
It’s a cinematic classic because... it’s dark, it’s clever, it spawned a thousand memes.
Even if you haven’t seen it you’ll know: that it has something to do with a spinning top. And folding buildings. Plus you’ll have heard Hans Zimmer’s clanking great score.
The clincher: It’s celebrating its 10th anniversary so it’d be rude not to see it really.
Interstellar
It’s a cinematic classic because... it shows a vision of space travel that was simply inconceivable before Nolan gave it a go.
Even if you haven’t seen it you’ll know: that this is one extremely good looking film, phwoar.
The clincher: It’s the closest thing you’re going to get to going into actual space, unless you have several million pounds handy.
Dunkirk
It’s a cinematic classic because: it’s a war film that really shows the horrors of war - because it runs in real-time (complete with tick-tock heartbeat that’ll have you chewing your nails down to the wick), you can’t help but identify with the characters.
Even if you haven’t seen it you’ll know: that Harry Styles is in it.
The clincher: Harry Styles is in it!
Batman Begins
It’s a cinematic classic because: it properly delved into the Bat’s tragic and sometimes mystical beginnings for the first time.
Even if you haven’t seen it you’ll know: that Christian Bale makes a surprisingly convincing playboy millionaire turned bat-eared vigilante.
The clincher: The Batman is coming in 2021 so do your homework now.
The Dark Knight
It’s a cinematic classic because: Heath Ledger’s performance as Joker was transformative and incredible, and won him a posthumous Oscar. Plus! So quotable!
Even if you haven’t seen it you’ll know: “He’s the hero we deserve... but not the one we need right now” and “Why! So! Serious!”
The clincher: Joaquin Phoenix won the 2020 Best Actor Oscar for Joker so now’s the perfect time to revisit Heath’s Oscar-winning version.
The Dark Knight Rises
It’s a cinematic classic because: it wrapped up Nolan’s Batman trilogy cleverly while leaving the door open for more.
Even if you haven’t seen it, you’ll know: that it’s quiiiite tricky to understand the big bad baddie Bane, at times.
The clincher: Missing The Dark Knight Rises on the big screen is like reading a book and abandoning it before the last chapter.

Tenet
It’s a cinematic classic because: well, it isn’t yet, but we’re pretty excited to find out why it’s a classic once it comes out
Even if you haven’t seen it, you’ll know: next to nothing! The whole thing, including the plot, has been kept under wraps. Even R-Patz says he doesn’t really know much about it.
The clincher: it’s Christopher Nolan. Need we say more?
